A man of my age

A man of my age shouldn't have to go through what I have just been through this evening and that is watching my beloved Arsenal go 4-0 down to Reading in the Capital One Cup. We pulled it back to 4-4 in the 95th minute to take it to extra time. Good job I am getting healthy (according to the weigh-in at Slimming World last night I lost 3.5 pounds last week) so I think I can handle the stress. Watching the extra time now so will post tomorrow when I shall ether be very happy or pretty miserable depending on the outcome.........

Skyfall

Went to the movies this morning at my local Showcase Cinema to see Skyfall. Great film and certainly lives up to all of the hype. I have decided to embrace the 21st century big time and bought a new phone yesterday from Phones4U a Samsung Galaxy Ace smartphone. My previous phone is now on permanent display at The British Museum! My wife Alison and I will be going to our weekly weigh-in tomorrow at Slimming World and for some reason I don't feel terribly optimistic, but I thought that last week and still lost a few pounds. You might be wondering why I have put so many links on this post, well the simple fact is that I am  new to blogging and it is good practice for me. The other reason is that I still find it pretty cool that you can link to other pages so easily. I know, I am easy to please, but even though I have had different computers for years now it never ceases to amaze just what you can do so bear with me until I get bored!
No pictures today, but I am getting a new camera soon and will be taking lots of pictures soon of dishes that Alison are creating. Back to studying Locke and Hume two philosophers from hundreds of years ago although to be frank I think I would have more fun wading through treacle in a pair of diver's boots!

Autumn in Harby

Autumn in Harby. Victoria and I had a walk around the village on Monday afternoon. Very foggy which made it sooooooooooo atmospheric and good for photo op's. Some really nice colours as well where the leaves are changing and getting ready to drop. Some sad news - the potato in my first pic, and featured with me in front of the church, is no more as it has been eaten in a rather delicious fish pie by Victoria and I this evening. We were so hungry that it was gone by the time I thought about taking a picture so it will have to wait until next time. Simple to make and the perfect meal for a cold, wet autumn evening. Recipe will follow with picture when I make it again.

Introduction

In case you have an inquisitive mind like me you are probably wondering where the name of my blog comes from. They are my initials David Ian Price. I also have two Diplomas so in reality I am a Dip, Dip, Dip and I am currently working on getting 1:1 in horrayism which would make me a dip, dip, dip hooray! Pretty poor joke, but it is the best I can come up with today although I do really have the Diplomas. I am currently doing an Open University course on Western Philosophy and the potato represents the diet that I am on at the moment Slimming World which is working wonders as I lost half a stone in the first week. I am taking my lovely daughter Victoria to Marrakesh in June and my wife Alison and I are off too India next September. Obviously plenty of pics to post next year! So there you go Plato to potato with a healthy wedge of travel in between.
